what I code on

I mostly do mobile. React Native, Swift, Kotlin. Swift is the main focus. Web shows up a lot too.

Main machine right now is a MacBook Pro, M3 Pro, 18GB RAM, 1TB. It just works. Keyboard is great for coding, the screen is clean, and I actually like macOS. I test apps in the simulator here or on my phone. Phone is an iPhone 16 Pro. Same one I take photos with. Might dump some of those in a post later.

For IDEs: Cursor for web and React Native, Android Studio for Kotlin, Xcode for Swift. Android Studio is the one I hate. Worst experiences by far. Xcode isn’t perfect, but I kind of like it, especially how it looks. Cursor doesn’t leave me hanging. Autocomplete is genuinely good. Nice one, Cursor.

Battery on this Mac still surprises me. I also have a G15 (i5-10500H, 32GB RAM, 512GB SSD, GTX 1650) running Arch. Off the charger that thing dies in under an hour, weighs a ton, and the Mac still beats it without breaking a sweat. On the Mac I get almost a full day of heavy use.

If you can buy one, I think it’s worth it. This laptop lives in my backpack. Trips, work, college. Always there.

(I’m graduated now, by the way. Congrats to me.)
