g15 vs mac
I already said I use two notebooks in what I code on. Time to talk about them properly.
Used to only have the G15. Had it forever. Had to haul it to work every day. Miserable. The weight alone. Plus the charger, which is a brick by itself. Plus a mousepad and a mouse, because the trackpad is horrible.
Still haven’t seen a Windows laptop with a good trackpad. Only tried gaming ones though. Never touched a real workstation Windows machine. I’d try a Surface. Pretty thing. I just hate Windows. Lol. Microsoft laptop running Linux. They’d love that.
Performance-wise, for coding, it never left me hanging. Could run hot. Could feel like a brick. Louder than a helicopter taking off. Still got the job done. That’s why I still use it. Gaming machine now. Sits closed in its corner, heart of the setup.
The Mac though. For work that thing is another level. No equal. College too. I’ve never heard it make noise. Quiet. Perfection.
Performance-wise it just destroys the G15 at everything I compared. Unfair fight, honestly. Taking it places: Mac and the charger. That’s it. And the charger is way lighter. No question. Work, college, watching stuff day to day. Mac.
Games? Different story. The G15 has way more support. Even on Linux. (I’ve got a Windows dual boot for the ones that really need it.)
And it’s not even just fps. Minecraft with shaders? Believe it or not, the Mac does better. Same with native stuff like Cyberpunk. But gaming on the Mac feels weird. I hated it. Not frame drops. Mouse feels off. Input feels off. Whatever. I don’t game on it, so not my problem.
Already said I’d recommend a MacBook if you can buy one. Still do. Great machine. My pick.
